"Hi Greg--just want to let you know that I am thoroughly enjoying the lessons you’ve provided. I like the fact that I can send mp3s of me playing the assignments and shortly thereafter receive a very thorough and candid critique of my playing. Lessons by email help me out tremendously because I work a full-time job and have two young children.  My time is scarce, so any program that allows me to listen to lessons on the go and view assignments electronically is well worth the investment. Since my initial lesson, I have paid more attention to, among other aspects, theory, articulation, swing feel, tone, and phrasing. I enjoy your teaching style and I can really tell you have the knowledge and passion for teaching the jazz language. I look forward to working with you as I continue to reach a personal goal in jazz improvisation.

Also, my wife, co-workers, and I thought it quite cool that you evaluated my playing, sent me mp3s of you playing the examples, and assigned my lessons all while you were on tour in Bangkok. Thanks!"

$75.00 Lesson by E-Mail with Greg Fishman

"As a reading musician who has primarily relied on my ear for more than twenty years to help me through jazz improvisation, I decided it was finally time to get to the next level in my playing. After meeting Greg Fishman at an Aebersold summer jazz workshop and realizing his depth of understanding of and passion for the music, I decided a few months later to pursue on-line lessons with him. Since then, I've been thrilled with the results, as I am now learning to think of the music more in terms of voice-leading and riffs, my technique and speed are going through the roof, and I am becoming much more comfortable with the theory behind the jazz.

Greg's custom teaching style is remarkable, and he does a great job of communicating how to approach practicing the assigned lessons based on my current abilities.  I highly recommend web cam lessons with Greg for anyone who wants to become 'one' with the music, yet may not have easy access to a professional instructor of jazz saxophone."

$75.00 Lesson by WebCam with Greg Fishman

Content of Lessons:

Tone production, technique, scales, chords, licks, patterns, ear-training, elements of jazz style, including articulation, phrasing, and improvisation.

Each lesson is customized to address your individual musical needs. Lessons will include a written assignment for practicing scales, chords, intervals, and a new lick. In addition, you'll receive a 15 - 20 minute CD featuring an explanation or demonstration of the lesson assignments. The CD is very much like a live lesson with me, in that I'm explaining these musical concepts, and demonstrating them on sax or piano.

You'll also receive the recording of yourself, with my voice comments recorded over your playing of the assignments. This way, you get direct, constructive and professional feedback on your playing.

Here's How it Works
:

Once you purchase your first lesson, record yourself* playing a blues, scales, long tones, an etude from one of my books, an improvisation, etc...Please keep the recording between 5 and 15 minutes in length.

Feel free to tell me your own strong points and weak points, and what you're hoping to learn with the lessons.

For subsequent lessons, you'll send a 10 - 15 minute recording of yourself* (on CD or Cassette, or as an mp3 file) playing the items I've assigned. I'll listen to your recording and give you a critique and advice for improving your playing level.

*If you prefer not to send a recording of yourself, you can still order a lesson by mail.

When I receive your order for the lesson, you'll receive an email confirming the lesson, and you'll receive my mailing address. You also have the option of submitting your recording to me as an mp3 file.

You'll receive the lesson within two weeks of my receipt of your recording. If you choose to
have the lesson without submitting a recording of yourself, you'll receive the lesson in approximately one week.

Lessons are shipped via USPS Priority Mail or Email.
